The Monster in the Shed

During a sleepover, a strange noise comes from the backyard shed: CHOMP-CRRRUNCH-CHOMP. With a colander for a helmet, a spatula and a flashlight that only works with a tap, they creep down to see what monster it is… and find out who the bravest one in the house really is.

Here’s how it looked with Martina and Claudia

The first page

It was one of those nights when the moon looks like a cookie with a bite taken out of it.

Martina, who was seven and had pajamas covered in stars, couldn’t fall asleep. Her friends Carlota and Cloe were sleeping over, and Claudia, her five-year-old sister, was snoring softly with her mouth wide open, like a dripping faucet.

And then they heard it.

CHOMP. CHOMP. CRRRUNCH. CHOMP.

Carlota sat bolt upright.

“Was that your tummy?” she whispered.

“My tummy goes grumble, not crrrunch,” said Martina.

Claudia opened one eye.

“It’s a dinosaur,” she announced, cool as a cucumber. “A teeny-tiny dinosaur. Or a grandpa eating sunflower seeds.”
