A story of grit

Grandma Rosa’s Lighthouse

Every summer, the kids stay at Grandma Rosa’s lighthouse. One foggy evening the power goes out in the whole village and Andrés’s boat doesn’t come back. All that’s left is an iron crank as heavy as a sleeping elephant… and a song.

Here’s how it looked with Hugo and Vera

The first page

Every summer, Hugo and Vera went to stay with Grandma Rosa, who was a lighthouse keeper. Her home was a red-and-white lighthouse on top of a cliff, with one hundred and twelve steps, which Vera always counted and always made one hundred and thirteen.

From the top you could see the whole village: the little painted houses, the harbor and the fishing boats, which came home every evening by following the lighthouse’s light, the way ducklings follow their mom.

All the illustrations

These are sample illustrations, painted with Hugo and Vera: each family’s book is painted with their own kids.
